OTA moves on to next phase of Gilcrease study

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority has concluded an online survey on Sand Springs area residents’ driving habits, and are now crunching the numbers to determine the feasibility of a bridge for the Gilcrease Extension, said an OTA spokesman.

Jack Damrill said OTA crews will spend the next several months compiling the data they got from a survey.

The OTA is also studying traffic patterns and other data to see if a bridge is justifiable and how it should be funded.

City officials say the extension would be vital to the community.

The Gilcrease Expressway was laid out as Tulsa’s outer loop expressway a half century ago. To date, the roadway has progressed as far west as the Tisdale Parkway in north Tulsa. A two-lane extension will soon extend the roadway westward to 41st West Avenue... FULL ARTICLE
