OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority on Friday will consider seeking approval to sell bonds to widen sections of the Creek and Kilpatrick turnpikes.

The OTA will also vote on spending about $6.8 million for engineering design work related to the projects.

Transportation Secretary Gary Ridley said Wednesday that the OTA doesn't know yet the amount in bonds that will be sold to finance the project.

The figure will be available after the engineering work, he said.

The OTA plans to add lanes inside the Creek Turnpike from U.S. 75 to Memorial Drive in Tulsa.

It also plans to add inside lanes along the Kilpatrick Turnpike from Eastern Avenue to MacArthur Boulevard in Oklahoma City.

"It is certainly extremely important to the travelers that use those facilities, not only today, but the ones in the future," Ridley said. "As you know, the Creek Turnpike at certain times in the day can get pretty congested. It is only going to get worse. It is a big deal not only for the OTA, but for the people that use both the Creek and Kilpatrick." FULL ARTICLE
