It's just coincidence that a constitutional proposal to drastically change and increase education funding will be voted on the same day voters select a new state schools superintendent. All the more reason candidates for that office need to pick a side regarding State Question 744.
Janet Barresi, the Republican candidate, has said she opposes the question as a "bad form of public policy." Independent Richard E. Cooper is for SQ 744. State Sen. Susan Paddack, D-Ada, is taking a pass, declaring voters can make up their own minds.
Surely Paddack has a take on the proposed change, which would be the most dramatic education funding reform since House Bill 1017 was passed in 1990. She needs to share her thoughts with voters, who deserve to hear her stance before they go to the polls Nov. 2. FULL ARTICLE
