OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Transportation Commission has approved a contract to repair damage to the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 caused by this week's flooding in central Oklahoma. The commission approved a $715,000 contract with Stillwater-based Wittwer Construction Co. Inc. at an emergency meeting Friday. Wittwer was one of four contractors to bid on the project. The damage was caused by swirling waters from heavy thunderstorms on Monday. The contractor will replace a 40-foot-long section of a bridge-type culvert and add structures to prevent swirling water for recurring. Meanwhile, northbound I-35 will remain narrowed to one lane between Waterloo Road and Seward Road south of Guthrie until mid-August as crews repair the flood-related damage. About 34,000 vehicles drive along I-35 each day.
