Highway officials are warning motorists to avoid Peoria Avenue near Interstate 44 this weekend as crews prepare to close the thoroughfare in both directions and demolish the old I-44 bridge.
Oklahoma Department of Transportation workers will close Peoria in both directions at 7 p.m. Friday so that crews can take down the bridge as part of the I-44 widening project, ODOT spokeswoman Kenna Mitchell said.
"If you can, please try to avoid this area this weekend," Mitchell said.
If not, she added, "you'll have to plan on a lot of extra travel time."
Access roads to Riverside Drive and Lewis Avenue will be open, she said... FULL ARTICLE
