PERKINS — The Oklahoma Department of
Transportation will conduct a study of a stretch of highway that runs
through Perkins to consider reducing the speed limit.
During a
meeting Tuesday, city commissioners requested that ODOT look at the
Lover’s Lane crosswalk and the corner of U.S. 177 and state Highway 33
all the way to Brush Creek Road, said City Manager Pete Seikel. The
study will consider reducing the speed limit to 35 mph and moving the
eastbound school zone sign west of Lover’s Lane, he said.
Seikel said discussions about the topic started about three years ago.
