OKLAHOMA CITY - A state panel on Thursday approved the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority's financing plan to widen the Creek and Kilpatrick turnpikes.
The Council on Bond Oversight approved the sale of $150 million in bonds to widen about seven miles of the Creek Turnpike between U.S. 75 and Memorial Drive in Tulsa and to widen about 7 1/2 miles of the Kilpatrick Turnpike between McArthur Boulevard and Eastern Avenue in Oklahoma City.
Turnpike officials have said the projects are necessary because of increased traffic on both turnpikes.
No toll increases are expected as a result of the sale of the bonds, said Tim Stewart, deputy director of the Turnpike Authority.
The estimated cost for widening the Creek Turnpike is slightly more than $76.5 million, and the estimated cost for the Kilpatrick widening is nearly $67.9 million, Stewart said... FULL ARTICLE
