Port authority approves construction changes

CATOOSA – There is a perfect storm of construction going on at the Tulsa Port of Catoosa.

The Tulsa-Rogers County Port Authority approved several change orders for current construction, said David Yarbrough, manager of operations.

At the same time, the port is replacing the security building at the main entrance and performing street repairs on the north end of the port, Yarbrough said.

“It is a perfect storm,” he said.

Completing the rail loop around the East Channel at the Tulsa Port of Catoosa will cost another $125,000 following a change approved on Thursday by the Tulsa-Rogers County Port Authority.

Tulsa-based Am Rail Construction Inc. will finish Phase Two of the rail project, adding an additional 3,700 feet of track. The first phase of the project, constructing 5,900 feet of track, was completed in 2009.

The construction company will extend railcar storage capacity for DeBruce Grain Inc. and connect that storage line to the mainline, said Bob Portiss, port director. DeBruce will reimburse the port for the added cost, Portiss said... FULL ARTICLE
