Pro SQ 744 Continues with Misleading Ads
Yes on 744 campaign continues with misleading media tactics
OKLAHOMA CITY – The One Oklahoma Coalition responded to a second television ad released today on YouTube by the pro-SQ 744 campaign by calling for verification of the facts stated in the ad.
One Oklahoma campaign manager Jeff Wilson said, “This second TV spot by the Yes on 744 campaign claims passage of 744 will result in reduced class size, recruitment and retention of better teachers and improve reading scores. I challenge them to demonstrate where SQ 744 guarantees any of these things will happen.”
One Oklahoma cited the fact there are no provisions that any increased funding must go to teacher pay or be spent in the classroom. The funds can be spent entirely on administrative salaries and still meet the requirements of the measure.
Wilson said, “These ads are misleading. Given the Yes on 744 campaign’s total lack of regard for ethics laws, and their violation of trademark laws in their first ad, this is par for the course. I guess this is what happens when you have a group of out-of-state consultants running a campaign like they do.”
