Good news. Oklahoma's ailing state budget appears to be on the mend.

State Treasurer Ken Miller announced last week that gross revenue collections for October were 7.4 percent above the same month a year ago.

Gross revenue, an indicator of the state's economic performance, has now increased for 20 straight months and about $1.1 billion, or 60 percent, of the $1.9 billion lost from December 2008 to February 2010 has been regained

Income tax and sales tax revenues grew in October, while gross production taxes on oil and gas declined.

Miller said that the numbers suggest that "the biggest difficulties with the budget gaps are behind us."  FULL ARTICLE
