Reddest state grows even redder

Republicans grabwins in every secon-dary elected office.

For the first time in Oklahoma history, Republicans swept into every secondary elected office Tuesday by winning seven statewide races.

Former Gov. George Nigh, a Democrat, took note of the historic election.

"They used to have a saying that politics is local. I think today most politics is national," Nigh said. "And right now in Oklahoma there is an anti-Washington - which means an anti-Democrat - feeling.

"There are always peaks and valleys," he continued. "Two years ago, they didn't want Republicans. But things work out. It's called a democracy, and people get a right to say how they feel, and you can't argue that."

State Sen. Todd Lamb, R-Edmond, the majority floor leader, took the lieutenant governor's seat, defeating state Sen. Kenneth Corn, D-Poteau, and independent Richard Prawdzienski.

Lamb, 38, said he is looking forward to working with a Republican team of leaders to focus on attracting and retaining jobs in Oklahoma... FULL ARTICLE
