WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep.-elect James Lankford on Thursday landed all three of the committee assignments he requested, securing seats on the panels that craft a budget, set transportation policy and oversee government operations.
“I’m very, very pleased, obviously,” Lankford said.
Lankford, R-Oklahoma City, will be sworn in on Jan. 5 when the new Congress begins and Republicans take control of the House.
He will succeed Gov.-elect Mary Fallin in the House and on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, which will be working on a long-term highway bill. Lankford said the panel also has jurisdiction over aviation, a growing industry in Oklahoma City, which is also home to the federal Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center... FULL ARTICLE
