WASHINGTON — In the six months since Rep. James Lankford was sworn into the U.S. House, some things haven't changed from his first campaign.
He still tweets regularly to his followers: “I'm in a Budget Committee hearing this morning … ” he messaged last week; and he updates regularly on Facebook, continuing the social media effort that distinguished his upstart candidacy.
When home, he is still all over his central Oklahoma district, speaking at forums and other meetings.
And he still peppers his public comments with partisan digs, blaming Democrats for everything from high gasoline prices to the unemployment rate.
The Oklahoma City Republican came to Washington impatient to work on solutions, rather than dwelling on problems.
But now on the inside of the government he so often criticized as a candidate, Lankford must adapt to the slow-moving process of representative democracy and temper his expectations.
