Brogdon correct on SQ 754

Historically, we haven't had much to agree on with state Sen. Randy Brogdon.

But even a broken clock is right twice a day, and the extremist right-winger and defeated Republican candidate for governor from Owasso was correct when he spoke out against State Question 754.

The legislative referendum on the Nov. 2 state ballot would permanently prohibit predetermined constitutional funding formulas and constitutional requirements that state spending be based on the spending in other states.

It was drawn up (with Brogdon's support) to hex SQ 744, an initiative petition that is also on the Nov. 2 ballot. That also-bad proposal would require the Legislature to spend at least as much on public schools as the surrounding states do on average.

SQ 744 is wrong and should be rejected by state voters because it cedes state sovereignty over spending and tax issue to the legislatures of other states and would result in either huge tax increases, massive budget cuts for every other area in state government or both... FULL ARTICLE
