SHAWNEE, Okla. —
City, and state road projects are moving along in Shawnee. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s Harrison Street project is in the final stages, work on the mall turning lane has started and Kickapoo has taken a step forward.
Shawnee has now obtained right-of-way easements on all but one property along Kickapoo, and utilities relocations along the stretch are more than 75 percent complete.
“We now have right-of-way easements on all but one property,” Mary Ann Kerns, Shawnee’s city attorney said.
“We have also paid out on all but one. We should have complete right-of-way by mid-September or early October.”
The remaining property is a Sinclair gas station, and only one out of the original 80 easements was settled by a jury trial.
“We are almost nearly done,” Kerns said.
