Road work inconvenient, but it’s a sign of progress (OPINION)

NORMAN — It was 102 degrees and Oklahoma Transportation Secretary Gary Ridley wasn’t about to waste time on lofty platitudes at the opening of the Rock Creek Road bridge Tuesday afternoon. He did bring a warning about future construction.

“I apologize, over the next four or five years, over what you are about to have happen here,” Mr. Ridley told guests waiting to roll bicycles, motorcycles, cars, buses and trucks over the new Interstate 35 overpass.

Indeed, Norman will again be inundated with more road construction over the next few years. The biggest project will be the widening of I-35, now completed from the Oklahoma River bridge in Oklahoma City to Main Street in Norman... FULL ARTICLE
