OKLAHOMA CITY -- After a long summer drought, an Oklahoma City metro intersection is seeing a flood of problems. Weekend rains swamped the area of I-44 and Classen earlier this week, causing traffic to be shut down.
After Tuesday night's storms, there was a similar situation.
A drainage structure keeps this low-lying area from flooding during most rainstorms, but the Oklahoma Department Of Transportation discovered a problem deep within that structure about a month ago during a routine inspection.
Earlier this week, it looked like "Lake Classen" had formed in the middle of a busy intersection.
The Classen on and off ramps at I-44 had been flooded with heavy rain.
