NORMAN — The city of Norman, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Norman Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting and grand opening of the Rock Creek Road Bridge over Interstate 35 at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The public is invited.
The ribbon cutting will take place on the west end of the bridge and traffic will proceed from west to east. Following the ribbon cutting, the bridge will be open to traffic.
The Rock Creek Road Overpass Project from 24th Avenue Northwest to 36th Avenue Northwest is a $12 million street improvement project. Funding was provided by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the city, the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments and the University North Park Tax Increment Finance District.
Construction began June 7, 2010. The prime contractor is Silver Star Construction of Moore.
