NORMAN — Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the new Rock Creek Road bridge over Interstate 35, officials said.
“The bridge is substantially complete, except for some intersection work at 24th Avenue NW, finishing the sidewalks and putting down sod,” Norman Public Works Director Shawn O'Leary said.
The bridge is expected to be open to traffic by late August, O'Leary said.
“We've been disappointed about delays in getting it finished,” he said. “Originally, we had hoped to have it open by late July, but I suspect it's because the state Transportation Department is buried under a number of projects they're trying to complete right now.”
Once the bridge is open, it will be the most “pedestrian-friendly” bridge in the city, O'Leary said... FULL ARTICLE
