LOCUST GROVE — Scenic 412 will be closed east of Locust Grove beginning Nov. 29 to replace a bridge built over 80 years ago. A construction project to put in a new bridge six and a half miles east of Town could last 30 days.
Kenna Mitchell, spokesperson with Oklahoma Department of Transportation, confirmed the bridge was built in 1928 and was in need of replacement. The construction will close the highway completely. The bridge will then be removed and a pre-cast bridge structure will be hauled in as a replacement. The project is expected to cost $675,379.46.
A detour route has been established with the help of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.
The Cherokee Turnpike cash customers traveling eastbound to Leach and westbound from Leach will travel free while the detour is in effect. Toll gate machines will be disabled and covered, using a tarp. Violation lights/bells will also be disabled at the Leach US 412 ALT eastbound exit and Leach US 412 ALT westbound entry... FULL ARTICLE
