OKLAHOMA CITY – The One Oklahoma Coalition today called on the Yes on 744 Campaign and school administrators to halt all potentially illegal electioneering activities amid reports of pro-744 materials being distributed to students on school grounds.
Yukon public school students were sent home with pro-744 fliers yesterday and today, which were reportedly sent out to all students at Skyview Elementary as well as a Yukon high school. It was also reported that after local media began questioning the superintendent of Yukon schools, he issued a call for all pro-744 fliers that included the Yes on 744 campaign’s green apple logo to be returned to his office and not distributed. Similar reports were also issued regarding Bristow schools.
Yukon mom, Julia Seay, who’s daughter is a senior at Yukon said, “I was shocked when my daughter came home with pro-744 materials that she had received from her teacher at school. It’s disturbing to me that our schools would be used for campaign purposes.”
Jeff Wilson, One Oklahoma Coalition campaign manager said, “The Ethics Commission is looking into these violations. We are getting a steady stream of reports of this type of illegal electioneering activities from across the state. The Yukon incident is just one of the latest examples we know of.”
