OKLAHOMA CITY — A measure that would allow the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority to conduct a feasibility study on finishing the Gilcrease Expressway and an outer loop is headed to Gov. Brad Henry.
The Senate passed House Bill 3220 by House Speaker Chris Benge, R-Tulsa, and Sen. Brian Bingman, R-Sapulpa, on a 43-3 vote Wednesday.
The measure would put the project on a list of approved toll roads. The Turnpike Authority would have to vote on whether to build it.
Sen. Randy Brogdon, R-Owasso, who is running for governor, was among three senators to oppose the bill.
Brogdon said the Turnpike Authority has more than $1 billion in debt, adding that more than 27 turnpikes have been authorized... FULL ARTICLE
