Carl Mustain said he may have to pack up his business of 24 years because of an upcoming road project.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation said traffic on Shawnee Bypass, which also is U.S. 62, will be narrowed starting today. From 8 a.m. today until January, traffic will be constricted to one lane in each direction between Main and York streets for repairs to the bridges over the Union-Pacific Railroad.
Mustain, a co-owner at Discount Carpet in Curt’s Center, was not pleased to hear about the project.
“If it disrupts business, it will take away what little we are getting now,” Mustain said. “It may be a good thing that I’m hearing this now, because I’ve got a lease that’s expiring, and I may not renew it. This is adding to the economic problems. It can’t help. That’s not good news.” FULL ARTICLE
