Oklahoma City has more than 20 miles of “The Mother Road,” but visitors — and sometimes even local residents — have had trouble following the route through the metro area.
That should be less confusing now, thanks to the completion of a joint four-year project by the city of Oklahoma City and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, and led by state Sen. David Holt and Mayor Mick Cornett.
The project involved placing about 30 signs along the portion of the legendary highway that passes through the Oklahoma City metro area.
The city placed 28 signs, the Transportation Department placed three within the city.
In all, the Transportation Department placed 16 Route 66 signs, including at locations in Oklahoma and Canadian counties... FULL ARTICLE
