I'm a college student who opposes State Question 744. In essence, the "Helping Oklahoma Public Education Act" has good intentions. Who doesn't want better services, teaching and administration for their children? However, SQ 744 would produce many more complications than benefits.
Many people seem to think that the funding for these mandates will be provided. That's not the case. The revenue source can only be provided by cutting other state services and rather dramatically increasing tuition and fees for college students. I'd prefer not to have more student loan debt than I already do.
