State employees would be laid off and prisoners would be set free if a state question that mandates education funding is approved by voters, a coalition against State Question 744 argued Thursday at a Capitol news conference.
Members of the One Oklahoma Coalition said the measure — which would require Oklahoma to fund common education to the regional standard — would be a "job killer.”
"State Question 744 is the wrong way,” said Fred Morgan, president and chief executive officer of The State Chamber of Oklahoma. "This will be a job killer and hamper our efforts to get more jobs to Oklahoma. It creates instability and businesses want stability.”
Groups supporting the school funding measure were successful in getting nearly 250,000 signatures on petitions to get SQ 744 on the ballot in November... FULL ARTICLE
