OKLAHOMA CITY - The state's economy continues its slow and steady recovery from the recession, State Treasurer Ken Miller said Tuesday.
General revenue fund collections for December were $454.5 million, or $52.1 million (13 percent) above the same month last year. The figure is $18.9 million or 4.3 percent above the estimate.
Miller said reports show that Oklahoma had a much-improved Christmas season and is trending in a positive direction, but is still in the early stages of recovery.
"Sales tax collections show a 7 percent increase in spending from last December," Miller said. "While those collections are $3.7 million less than two years ago, they are up by $9.4 million from last Christmas." FULL ARTICLE
