Congressional panel’s chairman tours stimulus-funded projects

The chairman of a congressional committee on transportation and infrastructure toured Oklahoma road projects Monday to get a firsthand look at how the state has spent its federal transportation funds.
U.S. Rep. James Oberstar, D-Minn., visited two highway projects funded with stimulus dollars and got a glimpse of work being done to relocate Interstate 40 in downtown Oklahoma City.
With a completed section of the new I-40 Crosstown Expressway in the background, Oberstar praised Oklahoma’s efforts to quickly put federal stimulus dollars to work. Oklahoma ranks seventh among states with stimulus projects under contract, he said.
