Federal stopgap bills are not the way to fund state transportation needs.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation, like every other state’s transportation department, is complaining that since September, Congress has not passed a long-range transportation bill.
The latest stopgap bill runs two months, until the end of February.
Transportation officials in every state have made it clear that temporary funding keeps long-range planning goals up in the air.
