Grumbling about street construction is one of Tulsa's most popular pastimes these days. But deep down, Tulsans are really pleased with the way street improvements are progressing, according to a recent Tulsa World-sponsored poll.
Nearly two-thirds of those polled said they somewhat to strongly approve of the $451.6 million Fix Our Streets program, while only 29 percent said they somewhat to strongly disapprove.
The ambitious street-improvements package was approved by voters in 2008 and is expected to be completed in 2014.
The high approval level for the program is significant because the Fix Our Streets initiative was meant to be just the first of several similar packages that will be put before voters in coming years.
