OKLAHOMA CITY — Legislation to authorize a feasibility study for a highway through parts of west Tulsa and Tulsa County was approved by the House of Representatives on Monday.
The proposed study is part of a comprehensive initiative to complete a loop around Tulsa that has been on the drawing board for decades. Officials say the road will not necessarily be a toll road, although indications are that at least part of it could be.
The bill by Speaker Chris Benge, R-Tulsa, passed 74-22. Reps. George Faught, R-Muskogee, and Mike Reynolds, R-Oklahoma City, argued against it, and Benge and Reps. Lucky Lamons, D-Tulsa, and John Wright, R-Broken Arrow, debated in favor of it.
