response for concerns

How inadequate are the legislators we send to Oklahoma City that cause some among us to ask us to use the legislative decisions of Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas to determine the destiny of our education system? State Question 744 implies that we need voters of these surrounding states to make decisions for Oklahoma. However, if for some reason they change their minds, we are still locked in to their original choice.

Oklahoma legislators have to deal with conditions and limitations the way they exist in Oklahoma, and not lockstepped after whatever is happening in other states. Also, throwing money at problems is not always the ultimate answer (e.g. Japan vs. USA). Oklahoma has previously thrown money at the problem, obviously, with unsuccessful results. Perhaps there is a more profound reason for our education system’s problems.

At any rate, State Question 744 is not a rational answer.
