OKLAHOMA
CITY — A recent toll increase pushed the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority's
revenue up by 13.5 percent in October compared with the same month a
year ago.
Authority members heard a brief update on the impact of the toll increase during their meeting Wednesday.
The toll increases for passenger and commercial vehicles, which the authority's board passed in August, averaged 16 percent.
Commercial traffic on the state's toll roads continued to decline in
October, with an 11 percent drop from the previous year, said Wendy
Smith, the authority's director of finance and revenue.
However, passenger vehicles increased 2.6 percent over the
numbers of 2008. The increase is attributed in part to lower fuel
prices, Smith said.
