After another session of Congress, Senator David Meyers and Representative Jeffrey Hickman paid a visit to Cherokee to share with citizens some of the decisions that had been made during the session. The meeting was held at Miss Dottie’s Café on June 4.
Representative Jeffrey Hickman started off the meeting by discussing issues pertaining to Health Care. He said that the Oklahoma legislature passed the vote giving Oklahomans the right “to opt out of the federal health care mandate.”
According to Hickman, an amendment was sent to the Oklahoma Governor in order to block the federal health care mandate, but the Governor did not sign it.
Another health care legislation that passed “would allow insurance commissioners to negotiate compacts with other states to allow out of state insurers to sell insurance in Oklahoma.”... FULL ARTICLE
