It’s a dangerous stretch of highway.
Acting City Manager Pete Stasiak used those words to describe the section of U.S. Highway 69 in McAlester which the Oklahoma Department of Transportation has set for a major interchange project.
Current plans call for the interchange project to extend from Wade Watts Avenue to the traffic light at Peaceable Road, near Braum’s. The plans are basically for the part of the highway that’s named the George Nigh Expressway as it runs through McAlester.
Several sites along the highway have seen serious accidents through the past few years, Stasiak noted... FULL ARTICLE
