Traffic Talk: New year brings new questions about old road problems

I recently returned home to Oklahoma City from a long tour in Iraq. I have been gone since late 2009 and, upon my return, I was shocked that no progress has been made on the widening of Portland/Hwy 74 from north of NW 206 to south of NW 150. I can tell that nothing is planned for the future expansion because a very large cellular tower has been built in the right of way on the west side of Portland about a quarter of a mile north of NW 150. This blows my mind that no progress has been made on this roadway. Anyone traveling this road either during the morning rush or evening rush knows that it will add a minimum of 20-30 minutes extra to use this road for your commute. Why has nothing been done to this road, while other areas that have very little traffic have great four-lane roads?
