News the Oklahoma Department of Transportation has approved an Enid trail system plan is welcomed by many folks in the community.
For the past two to three years, Enid Park Advisory Board and the city have worked on defining and building a trail system. It is not an easy process and includes many hurdles, particularly funding in hard economic times.
The ideal situation is for the state and city to share funding of such a trail, and that is where this plan is headed.
Many may think a trail system is a luxury in a community. It is not. With Oklahoma’s high obesity and diabetes rates, it is imperative cities such as Enid develop a system of trails that provide a safe form of walking or biking travel to high-traffic areas of town... FULL ARTICLE
