OKLAHOMA CITY - Transportation officials said they plan to move forward quickly with plans for construction projects if Congress passes the jobs plan unveiled by the president last week.
"I have a lot of confidence in our delegation," said Gary Ridley, Oklahoma Department of Transportation director. "To put everyone's mind at ease ... the department will be ready for whatever package comes down."
Officials will have to wait to see what Congress will do in terms of allocating funds toward infrastructure, Ridley said Monday during a special meeting of the state Transportation Commission.
Ridley said a generous spending plan would speed up the department's eight-year plan and could push future projects along in planning.
"The real benefit of highway construction is you will use it for 50 years," Ridley said... FULL ARTICLE
