TULSA – Preserving funding programs, extending the Gilcrease Expressway and studying municipal fiscal needs represent just a few of this year’s legislative goals from the Tulsa Metro Chamber OneVoice program.
Although Thursday’s weather led chamber leaders to cancel a planned news conference announcing the top agenda items for the regional unity lobbying program, the OneVoice Web site lists 10 key legislative priorities for 2010.
Topping the list: Further construction on the Gilcrease Expressway, an important connection for both Tulsa International Airport traffic and other industrial and residential users in north and west Tulsa. With the roadway not scheduled for completion until 2052, some residents have sought ways to advance the project. The next step could include a proposed $80 million toll bridge connecting 21st Street to Charles Page Boulevard.
The chamber said it would seek any funding mechanism to advance the projects, including a possible partnership with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority...
