Tulsa Port of Catoosa shipments increase

CATOOSA – Shipments at the Tulsa Port of Catoosa increased in June with increases for bulk and scrap steel, wheat and liquid fertilizer.

Shipments for the month totaled 136,184 tons in 68 barges, up from 89,693 ton in 55 barges in May and 80,629 tons in 51 barges in June 2008.

Inbound shipments for the month totaled 37,512 tons in 23 barges, up from 22,398 tons in 15 barges in May. Shipments for June 2008 totaled 36,221 tons in 25 barges.

Outbound shipments in June totaled 98,672 tons in 45 barges, down 67,295 tons on 40 barges in May and 44,408 tons in 26 barges in June 2008.

For the first six months of 2009, shipments totaled 1.1 million tons of freight in 646 barges, compared with 1.08 million tons in 661 barges for the first six months of 2008.

The McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System – which stretches from the Tulsa Port of Catoosa to the Mississippi River – handled 1.05 million tons of freight in June.
