The long-planned Boulder Avenue bridge now becoming a reality will boost downtown revitalization and economic development efforts, Mayor Dewey Bartlett said Wednesday.
"The new Boulder Bridge will provide a needed link for both vehicles and pedestrians between restaurants, entertainment venues and cultural attractions in the Brady District and ONEOK Field, the BOK Center and other portions of the downtown area," Bartlett said at a news conference.
Tulsa Metro Chamber President Mike Neal agreed, saying the project will help merge two burgeoning entertainment areas.
Construction on the $8.3 million bridge will begin in September and finish next summer.
The bridge will span the railroad tracks, linking First and Archer streets at Boulder.
The former bridge, built in 1929, was closed to traffic a decade ago because of structural instability and was demolished in 2009... FULL ARTICLE
