Norman — The low bid for the ambitious Robinson Street Underpass project came in $5.7 million under the city’s construction budget, City Manager Steve Lewis announced Thursday evening during a budget retreat at City Hall.
Public Works Director Shawn O’Leary said the low bid came in at $12.2 million, which is 32 percent lower than the $17.9 million project budget.
“It doesn’t get much better than that,” said O’Leary, who predicted last week the project would come in under budget.
