NORMAN — Five years after voters approved the bond issue that included building an underpass at the Robinson Street railroad crossing, construction is officially set to begin Monday.
The project recently came in under budget, with the City of Norman set to pay half of the $26 million price tag. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation will pay the rest.
During a recent study session, Public Works Director Shawn O’Leary said the low bidder came in about $5.5 million under the project’s $17.9 budget.
O’Leary said the new underpass, which will include $500,000 worth of beautification projects, 10-foot wide sidewalks for bicycle access and other enhancements, will be special... FULL ARTICLE
