Van Buren overpass restrictions to begin next month

ENID, Okla. — Traffic restrictions on the Van Buren overpass, over the BNSF Railway tracks, will begin in September.

The middle lanes of the overpass will be closed initially, with the two outside lanes open, city of Enid Project Engineer Jason Unruh told Enid City Commission during a study session Tuesday.

"That's going to happen in September, through a little bit of October," he said.

Later, one half of the bridge will be closed at a time as it is replaced. Oklahoma Department of Transportation spokeswoman Lisa Shearer-Salim has said traffic still will move through the area, but the structure will be narrowed to one lane in each direction through the duration of the project...
