Even though Oklahoma ranks 49th in education, voters shot down State Question 744, which would've required Oklahoma to meet the regional average when it comes to per-pupil spending.
After a heated debate for months, 744 opponents won the battle, arguing the proposed amendment would not be good for the state and will cost more money, causing other state funding programs to be thrown under the bus.
Lynn Stockley is the President for the Tulsa Classroom Teacher's Association.
"I honestly don't think people care that we're 49th," Stockley said. "It would've meant more supplies for classrooms."
