Sometimes, government programs really do work

Lots of us will be heading over the river and through the woods - and across the desert and around the mountains and into the valleys - to grandmother's house, or some other relative's house this week for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Naturally we all hope all those trips are safe ones. If recent trends hold up, motoring across America could be getting safer by the year.
But it's not so much thanks to improved motoring skills, but rather lots of other factors outside the control of the motoring public.
It turns out factors such as the poor economy, vastly improved technology, better highway conditions, tougher enforcement and new laws are what's helping to save us from ourselves and each other.
Oh well, good news is where you find it. Let's raise a toast to the new transportation improvements - and keep trying to improve our driving skills at the same time... FULL ARTICLE
