DUNCAN — During Monday’s regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, the board signed a cooperative agreement with Mack Energy Co. to make road improvements to Alma Road, just north of old Oklahoma Highway 7.
Todd Churchman, District 2 commissioner, said the agreement will bring in the Stephens County Soil Conservation District to help rectify a flooding situation for about about a 3/4 mile stretch of land.
“Every time it rains, that area floods,” Churchman said. “It gets underwater and stays flooded for seven to 10 days.”
Churchman said the plan is to begin pulling down fences along that tract of land and to start building new bridges in the area. One idea is also to add more drainage in the area...
