City of Tulsa and Tulsa County officials marked the official beginning Tuesday of a road-widening project along Yale Avenue between 61st and 71st streets.
The project - which is being undertaken with significant assistance from the Warren Foundation - adds to the long list of road-improvement work under way in the Tulsa area.
Here is an overview of those major projects and their potential impact on traffic:
Yale Avenue widening: This joint city/county project includes widening Yale Avenue from four lanes to six lanes between 61 and 71st streets. County officials say motorists should expect only temporary lane changes, with four lanes available to traffic most of the time. Preliminary work on the project began several weeks ago. The project is expected to be completed in July.
61st Street: This city project will widen 61st Street from two lanes to five lanes from Riverside Drive to Peoria Avenue. The project also includes major improvements to the street's water, sewer and stormwater systems. Motorists can expect temporary closures of 61st Street.
