The job of maintaining and rebuilding Interstate 35 in the metro won’t end anytime soon due to rising traffic counts and development along the state's busiest corridor.
The work, which includes completion of the I-35 and Interstate 240 junction, is part of a $6 billion, eight-year plan approved by the Oklahoma Traffic Commission.
Travelers along I-35 in north Oklahoma City will encounter lane reductions with surface repairs taking place along 4 miles between Kilpatrick Turnpike and Interstate 44. The corridor has seen an influx of distribution warehouses and daily traffic counts increased from 76,146 in 2010 to 84,000 in 2019.
Spokeswoman Brenda Perry said the $7.4 million project will impact I-35 interchanges at Wilshire, Britton, Hefner and NW 122.
