Public Eye: This railroad crossing is hazardous even when trains aren't coming

Good question.

A reader emailed Public Eye to complain about the railroad crossing on Sooner Road, just south of NE 23, saying that for years, the crossing has had so much damage it's "a hazard for cars to cross at posted speeds."

The posted speed: 45 miles an hour.

When approaching the crossing, there's no warning that the highway is elevated on both sides of the tracks, and cars get a hard jolt when they cross the railroad.

It's like driving over a shallow trench.
